Tax Representation
The firm has
particular experience and expertise in representation of horse
businesses in U.S. federal
income tax matters. We handle federal tax matters throughout
the United States . We offer representation most often in IRS
Administrative Appeals matters, and in U.S. Tax Court cases.
We also offer representation of horse businesses in IRS audits, and in
U.S. District Court refund actions.
Syndication
The term
"syndication" applied to a horse generally means division of ownership,
but this division of ownership can take several forms.
One of these forms used for breeding stallions is referred to as an
"undivided fractional interest" syndicate. In this form, each
co-owner, or member of the syndicate has ownership of"an undivided
fractional interest" in each molecule of the stallion, subject to the
terms of the syndicate agreement. The syndicate agreement
usually provides for each co-owner to receive certain breeding rights,

Business Matters
We have experience in the horse business, and offer legal counsel and
representation to horse businesses in a broad range business law
matters such as tax issues, choice of business entity, horse
purchase and sales issues, and representation of horse businesses
before horse industry administrative bodies, such as breed
associations, show and racing authorities.
Litigation
Mr. Husband is a member of the California Bar, and is also admitted to
practice before the United States District Court for the Central
District of California, the United States District Court for the
Southern District of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and
the United States Tax Court. He practices in state and
federal courts where he is admitted. Mr. Husband will also
cooperate with attorneys admitted to practice in other states in equine
business litigation matters, subject to appropriate arrangements being
made.
